TheSceneInTO had the good fortune to attend the recent debut of the Converse Counter Climate boot collection in Montreal. The star of the festivities was the Chuck Taylor All Star II boot.
Converse hosted a select group of media partners in Old Montreal. We were first treated to a history lesson by the resident Converse Archivist, Sam Smallidge. Sam gave the audience an enlightening history of the Converse boot-making for harsh climates dating back over 100 years. Much of the inspiration for the new Chuck Taylor All Star II came from some of the classic boots that we were able to see first hand.

The event proceeded with a transition to the future of Converse with the introduction of the Chuck Taylor All Star II boot, by Bryan Cioffi, VP/Creative Director Global Footwear.
All participants had the chance to try on pair of boots and test them out by sloshing through a bed of “indoor” slush.
The new boot offers a stylish yet fully functional option for our (sometimes) tough Canadian winters. The Chuck Taylor II boot is made with a technically superior mesh-backed waterproof leather. The boot is further enhanced with a waterproof neoprene bootie and a weatherized gum outsole with deep grooves for traction in slippery conditions.
The synergy with parent company Nike is realized as these Chuck Taylor II’s are extremely comfortable thanks to the Nike Lunarlon footbed. There are several colourway options to match your style, including Black, Antique Sepia, Grey, Egret and Dark Chocolate.
Converse continues to push forward technically, while still maintaining their classic look and appeal. The new Counter Climate collection offers many stylish options with innovations that provide consumers comfortable and practical solutions for daily use during the winter season.
Other options in the Counter Climate collection include water repellant canvas and rubber. The new Converse Counter Climate boot collection can be purchased at Foot Locker, SportChek, Little Burgundy, Converse stores and on Converse.com.
