Toronto doesn’t usually do subtle when it comes to 4/20 — but this year, one event is taking a slightly different approach.
On April 20, cannabis beverage brand TeaPot is hosting a one-night launch party at Bevy (738 Dundas St. E) that leans less into haze-filled clichés and more into something distinctly curated: a skate jam, art showcase, and low-key social hangout rolled into one.
Running from 4 to 7 p.m., the event feels more like a creative drop-in than a traditional launch. Guests enter through a TeaPot bar, where mocktails (and infused options for CannSell-certified attendees) set the tone before the space opens up into a series of experiences.
At the centre of it all is a half pipe activation powered by Kadence World, with pro skaters in the mix and an open invitation to either watch or jump in. It’s not just a backdrop, it’s the energy driver of the room, giving the event a raw, kinetic edge that sets it apart from other brand launches.
Around it, the vibe shifts fluidly. A DJ keeps things moving, while Toon Goons TO offers live caricature drawings that add a playful, personal element. Meanwhile, a collaboration with Boring Friends brings a layer of visual art into the space reinforcing the idea that this is as much about culture as it is about product.
Of course, the night also marks the debut of TeaPot’s newest cannabis beverages. The lineup includes Extra Raspberry Black Tea, featuring live rosin THC, CBG, and a caffeine kick, alongside a Lemon Green Tea that leans lighter and more refreshing. Unlike many cannabis drinks on the market, TeaPot’s approach is rooted in actual tea, brewed, not carbonated, offering something closer to a slow sip than a party shot.
That distinction matters. As cannabis beverages continue to carve out space in Toronto’s social scene, events like this suggest a shift away from novelty and toward experience where the drink is just one part of a broader cultural moment.
For those still figuring out their 420 plans, TeaPot’s launch offers something a little different: less about standing around, more about moving through a space, discovering things, and choosing your own version of the night.
Whether you’re there for the skating, the art, or just the chance to sip something new, it’s shaping up to be one of the more interesting ways to spend a Monday afternoon in the city.
Coincidently this post is approx 420 words 🙂
