If your idea of a perfect summer weekend includes tacos, tequila, and discovering your next favourite local restaurant, Taco Fest Toronto is ready to deliver.
Returning to Fort York from August 7 to 9, the annual festival is celebrating its ninth year with its biggest lineup yet. More than 35 restaurants and food vendors will serve hundreds of taco creations, from authentic Mexican favourites to inventive fusion flavours, all competing for one coveted prize, the Best Taco Trophy.
Among this year’s returning favourites are previous Best Taco winners Kong’s Hot Tacos and Birria Catrina, alongside local favourites Rick’s Good Eats, Big Jerk, and Ghost Taco. Fresh off winning the inaugural Taco Fest Mississauga title, Inmigrante will also be making the trip to Toronto with its award-winning quesabirria, giving festivalgoers one more reason to arrive hungry.
Of course, Taco Fest is about more than just tacos.
Visitors can learn the secrets behind fresh guacamole at the Los Cabos Guac School, sample more than 30 tequilas and mezcals, put their taste buds to the test at the Hot Sauce Bar featuring over 50 varieties from around the world, or cool off in the Jarritos Chill Zone. Throughout the weekend, live mariachi music, salsa dancing, chef demonstrations, and interactive food experiences help transform Fort York into one of Toronto’s liveliest summer patios.
One of the festival’s most entertaining traditions also returns. Every guest gets the chance to vote for their favourite taco, with the winning vendor crowned Best Taco at the end of the weekend, adding a little friendly competition to every bite.
