In the Bag: Alcatel Idol 4

Alcatel Idol 4 front and backThe number four mobile phone manufacturer in North America introduces an affordable Android handset with some quality, high-end specs including booming speakers

Alcatel’s Idol 4 is a value-driven, multimedia-heavy device for the marketplace. It’s a refined, sleek and lightweight phone with a glass body and full metal frame. The 1080p, 5.2-inch Full-HD display provides bright and vivid colors, even in direct sunlight.

The Idol 4 brings something new to the smartphone game, with the introduction of their programmable Boom Key experience. The button (on the side of the phone) helps make your tasks that much quicker by allowing you to do things like quickly check the weather, take instant photos or burst shots, or boost the loudness and bass of the speakers while listening to music. You can also program the key to quickly open other applications on the device.

Our favorite thing about the Idol 4 is its booming dual 3.6-Watt speaker system featuring Waves Audio Technology. The sounds are crisp with a commendable amount bass, making your music and streaming experiences great. This handset offers a best-in-class audio experience.

The Alcatel Idol 4 is available at Bell and Virgin Mobile Canada as of September 30 and are available for as low as $0 on a 2-year plan or for $299.99 with a no-term contract.
