TheSceneinTO had the opportunity to attend Opera Atelier’s fifth annual Versailles Gala where we mingled with the who’s who in the Toronto arts community. Of course, on hand were founding co-artistic directors, completely down-to-earth Marshall Pynkoski and his stunning, graceful wife Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg.

The always powerful coloratura soprano Ambur Braid, performed alongside baritone Vasil Garvanliev while artists of Atelier Ballet and students from the School of Atelier Ballet performed period dances for the guests.

Also in attendance were television personalities Lloyd Robertson, Seamus O’Reagan, Amanda Lang, Patty Sullivan, and Jeanne Beker acting as the evening’s MC.

Funds raised from the Versailles Gala will be used to support Opera Atelier’s international touring, particularly the company’s 2013 return to Versailles, France, as well as Opera Atelier’s education and outreach programs, which have been offered without charge since the company’s inception.
