Toronto is set for a night of joy, generosity, and seriously good music when the Birdsong New Music Foundation returns with its annual charity Christmas concert on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at the iconic Lula Lounge. This one-night-only event gathers some of Canada’s most celebrated performers—including Mae Martin, Liberty Silver, and a talented roster of Birdsong artists—for a transformative evening celebrating the healing power of music.

This beloved December tradition blends festive warmth with meaningful impact, raising funds to support new music created by individuals living with mental illness. With Birdsong’s artists crafting original work that reflects their lived experiences, the concert offers a unique opportunity for audiences to witness the life-changing capacity of creativity.

A Star-Studded Holiday Lineup with Heart

Hosted by comedian, actor, and Birdsong supporter Mae Martin alongside founder Margaret Konopacki, the evening features performances that span soulful, spirited, and deeply personal. The musical lineup includes:

  • Liberty Silver, Juno Award-winning vocalist
  • Mae Martin, returning to the stage after last year’s standout performance
  • Robert Priest
  • Dustin Harder (Prairie Soul)
  • Ashley Bell
  • Allan Kinney
  • D.M. LaFortune
  • Armand Anthony
  • Nicole McCafferty (Broadtree)
  • Dr. Tansy Etro-Beko and Rachel Scully

All performers will be backed by Bryant Didier and the Birdsong Village Band, with Margaret Konopacki directing and Dan Robinson stage managing.

Music as a Lifeline

Birdsong New Music Foundation was created in memory of David Martin (1987–2017), a gifted musician who lived with bipolar disorder. The charity provides resources, mentorship, and production support for individuals living with mental illness—empowering them to compose, record, and perform their own songs.

For Mae Martin, the cause is profoundly personal:

“This incredible charity is very close to my heart… The charity is dedicated to helping others like [David] to compose, record and perform their original music. Creativity has been an essential tool—a life raft—during periods of my life where I’ve struggled with addiction or my mental health.”

Founder Margaret Konopacki highlights Birdsong’s mission to transform public perception and champion the voices of artists often overlooked:

“This fundraiser is the culmination of eight years of hard volunteer work… Birdsong is a space of love, healing and second chances for many.”

This year’s concert also marks an exciting milestone, with three Birdsong artists currently completing full albums—a testament to the foundation’s sustained and powerful impact.
