This November, Toronto audiences are invited into an unflinching, intimate exploration of love and connection as Tarragon Theatre and Obsidian Theatre Company unite for the North American premiere of a profoundly affectionate, passionate devotion to someone (-noun) — a raw, poetic, and deeply human triptych from Olivier Award-winning playwright debbie tucker green.
Running November 11 – December 7, 2025 in Tarragon’s Mainspace (opening night November 19), the production marks the first-ever collaboration between two of Canada’s most powerful voices in contemporary theatre: Tarragon and Obsidian Theatre Company.
Directed by Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu, Obsidian’s Artistic Director, this new staging of tucker green’s acclaimed work offers a bold meditation on love in all its contradictions — how it thrives, falters, and endures. Structured as three duologues, the play invites audiences to witness the shifting emotional landscapes of three couples navigating what is, was, and might have been.

Obsidian’s Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu adds, “This co-production is a milestone — our first with Tarragon — and our third time presenting tucker green’s work. Her words always challenge and provoke, leaving audiences with something to unpack long after the curtain falls.”
The exceptional ensemble cast includes Jasmine Case, Virgilia Griffith, Andrew Moodie, Dwain Murphy, and Warona Setshwaelo — five dynamic performers who bring fresh depth and texture to tucker green’s distinctive lyrical style.
