Get ready for a unique musical experience that breaks boundaries and challenges conventions! The Flin Flon Cowboy, a deeply personal, autobiographical production, is set to take over Theatre Passe Muraille from October 19 to November 2, 2024. Brought to life by Ken Harrower, Erin Brandenburg, Johnny Spence, and the Flin Flon Cowboy Collective, this heartwarming and inspirational musical invites audiences on a journey through Harrower’s life, exploring themes of love, identity, and perseverance.

A Story of Love, Identity, and Triumph

At its core, The Flin Flon Cowboy is about self-discovery and resilience. Ken Harrower, a disabled artist who identifies as gay, takes audiences through his early life in the remote town of Flin Flon, Manitoba and his experiences within the foster care system. Despite the societal expectations imposed on him, Harrower escapes the prairies and finds solace and acceptance in Toronto’s vibrant LGBTQIA+ community.

The show combines storytelling with live music performed by Harrower himself, along with Johnny Spence and a live country band. It’s not just a performance—it’s a full-on experience that brings together Harrower’s emotional journey and the power of music to inspire.

A Talented Creative Team

The production is helmed by director and co-creator Erin Brandenburg, with music by Johnny Spence and performances by Harrower and Greg Campbell. The show features a stunning set and costume design by Jung-Hye Kim, complemented by video design from Laura Warren and lighting by Echo Zhou.

Theatre Passe Muraille, known for championing diverse voices, has teamed up with the Flin Flon Cowboy Collective and Why Not Theatre to bring this powerful story to life.
