Chris Bailey may just be a genius.

This recent university graduate decided to opt out of going the traditional employment route (not that he wasn’t offered), choosing instead to spend a year of his life learning how to become more productive.

This proves he's no dummy right?

Cue A Year of Productivity. Chris decided to throw caution to the wind and track his success at optimizing productivity, while teaching his readers tricks and techniques that he picks up along the way.

So what exactly does this year and project entail? Chris follows a strict daily schedule where he runs, meditates, devours everything he can productivity wise, he also reads, writes and interviews others on the subject.

“I try to cut out the clutter and the noise of everyday life in order to become more focused” says Chris on how he manages this new way of life.

A Year of Productivity covers a variety of areas all related to the subject. Energy Hacks for instance, covers ways to optimize your energy to become more productive. Technology covers the apps and computer programs (often free) that allow you to be mindful of the time you spend on various tasks, see for instance 3.5 simple email hacks that will save you days of time.

Chris employes meditative mindfulness to help increase productivity.

His honesty is one of the things that I enjoy about Chris and this project. He shares with his readers his successes, while not being afraid to chronicle his failures. How else would we learn what works and what doesn’t?

To sustain himself and the project for the year, Chris has a Pitch In page where you can choose to donate your money, expertise or even just spread the word about the site.

There certainly is a lot to learn (and be shared) from A Year of Productivity. I can tell you that I have already put into place several of Chris’ suggestions. I don’t visit the site every day, but I make time to check in every so often, especially when I feel like a little boost and inspiration is necessary.

Chris quadrupled? Would having more than one 'you' make one more productive?

So Genius? Sure, why not? At the end of this project—should it be a success (which I have no doubt it will), Chris Bailey will have learned and documented for us more about productivity than most people would likely gather in 10 years. Can’t you see the companies, for profit and not, that could utilize a person like this? After all, a productive worker is a more efficient worker, probably a happier worker. And that’s just good productive business.

Chris Bailey, productivity guru in the making.
