Do you love to garden? Would you want to help out our animal and insect friends? If so, please join Friends of Alexandra Park, a local community group of volunteers, to help them plant a Pollinator Garden on Saturday, June 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Located at Alexandra Park (275 Bathurst St.), the new garden will work to beautify the space and continue to improve its natural ecology.
Interesting and fun fact – pollinator gardens support and maintain pollinators (such as bees, flies, beetles, butterflies, moths, and hummingbirds) by supplying them with food (pollen and nectar) to ensure that they stay in the area to pollinate the local gardens and fruit/vegetable crops, benefiting the overall ecosystem of the area.
Following the gardening planting session, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., the Friends of Alexandra Park are hosting a party to celebrate the new garden and will feature food and drinks, music and activities for all ages.
Both events are open to all nature lovers!
Alexandra Park a great downtown green space featuring a skate park, sport fields, biking/walking paths, fruit/vegetable gardens and more; and over the years the Friends of Alexandra Park have worked to make this park more family-friendly and transform it into a more beautiful, usable green space that all Torontonians can enjoy.
Whether you live in the hood, or not, why not go by and help them create this beautiful garden, you’re guaranteed to have a good time and feel good.
