It’s spring again and with that comes the cleaning, so, there’s no time like the present to get rid of the clutter in your life and all the other things you no longer need (perhaps never needed in the first place). It’s time for some easy home organization.

Many of you will relish the idea of tidying up, but if you’re anything like me, the idea of organizing spaces that seem to have no end, makes you want to close the closet door and pretend it doesn’t exist. But, then you find that you need something in that mess and you either can’t find it, or the whole pile collapses on you as you open the doors (I know I’m not the only one this happens to).

Part of the problem with having no discernible home for things, is that they end up anywhere and everywhere—there is no system and things go missing, or you just continue piling on the mess. Eventually, this leads to full blown chaos. Chaos in your home or office leads to less productivity mentally and physically. You may not realize it, but it leads to the mind becoming cluttered too.

I decided that it was high time I brought in a professional to help get me back on track. As part of her service, Suzanne came out to the house and I took her on a tour of the spaces that needed the most work.

As soon as she saw the rooms and cupboards and what we had to work with, I could see her mind racing. She explained to me what she wanted to do with the areas and what I would need to get it to the vision she had. Deciding to begin with the kitchen area, she went away and sourced the price of goods needed for the project.

I may not like cleaning and clearing out personally, but I do like having things organized. Suzanne noticed that under all the clutter there was a method, but she helped me realize different, more efficient ways to organize our things.

After two and a half hours, Suzanne and I had cleared out junk that I no longer needed, created a place and system for everything, got unnecessary things off counters and shelves and overall, organized my chaos.

It’s now about a month later, and I’m happy to admit that my family and I have been able to keep our spaces tidy and clutter free. Because everything (including miscellaneous items) has a home, it’s become easier to just put things back where they need to be. Since getting Suzanne in, I feel so much better about myself, my space and my home again.
