Toronto’s vibrant art scene is set to host the world premiere of Walking Through The Fire, a visual album and film from the renowned Canadian band Sultans of String. On Friday, November 1st, this one-of-a-kind screening at the Cecil Community Centre will immerse audiences in a powerful collaboration between Indigenous artists, celebrating music, storytelling, and truth.

What to Expect

Walking Through The Fire brings together award-winning First Nations, Métis, and Inuit musicians to create an auditory and visual journey like no other. The film showcases a rich diversity of musical styles, from Métis fiddling to Pacific Northwest drumming, exploring themes of rebirth, truth, and resilience. With an all-star lineup, including poet Dr. Duke Redbird, Ojibwe/Finnish singer-songwriter Marc Meriläinen (Nadjiwan), and throat singers from the Arctic, the 80-minute film delves into the collective power of Indigenous collaboration in full DOLBY ATMOS sound.

The evening will kick off with a VIP Reception at 7:00 PM, where attendees can meet the artists, enjoy live music, and hear opening remarks by Dr. Duke Redbird. Following the 8:00 PM screening, there will be a Q&A panel with the film’s artists and producer, Chris McKhool, discussing the cultural significance and stories behind the film.
