Couldn’t get enough beach volleyball during the Olympics? We’re super excited to share that last tournament of the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series, which has already made stops in Germany, Croatia, Switzerland and Austria, will be played in Toronto September 13-18. This is huge for beach volleyball in Canada as a major tournament hasn’t been played in our country since Quebec City in 2011.
The best beach volleyball players in the world will be competing in Toronto, fresh off the Olympics in Rio. Four Canadian teams will be among the main draw’s 24. Among them are Ben Saxton and Chaim Schalk, Bronze Medal at recent Beach Majors in Croatia, Qualified for Team Canada in Rio and Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley, Silver Medal at recent Beach Majors in Croatia, Qualified for Team Canada in Rio.
Events start September 13 at 5pm with the Country quota play-off between Pavan/Humana-Paredes vs. Bansley/Wilkerson. The full schedule can be found via https://ca.swatchmajorseries.com/en/886/location-event-schedule
The tournament is free and will play all week until Sunday at Polson Pier. It’s going to be a great week weather wise which will simply add to the overall atmosphere a tournament like this brings. With the winning teams taking home $100,000 the Canadian teams are looking for your support and cheers.
