Attendees watch ‘The Princess Bride’ at Sail-In Cinema™ 2013 at Toronto’s Sugar Beach.

Sugar Beach was transformed into a large outdoor floating cinema in mid-August, as it saw the return of the wildly popular Sail-in Cinema.

On screen this year, and chosen by the public beforehand, were three quintessential 80’s movies—Ghostbusters, The Princess Bride and Back to the Future. The movies were projected onto a very large two-sided screen which sat on a floating barge in the lake.

If you missed Sail-in Cinema this time around, make sure you try to make it out next year. It is a very cool initiative to get people down to the beach and interacting around this stretch of the waterfront.

The free three-day festival ran August 15 to 17 and saw over 5000 people and 100 boats get together to enjoy the flicks by the water and under the stars.

It’s a lovely way to spend your last few weeks of summer.
