Twins Keith and Kenny Lucas are the monotonous duo that make up the Lucas Brothers comedy act. After their JFL42 show on Saturday the song “I Get High” played on repeat in my head—not because they played it, but I felt as if I was living that video. To be fair, they did say they’d smoked backstage.
Comedy is tricky in that it’s very individualistic. Sometimes you just have to enjoy a certain type of humor to come out feeling good. Which comedy is supposed to do—loosen you up—make you forget your problems for an hour, or two.
The brother’s show seemed low-energy and it came across as though they were practicing their bit for the first time. I chuckled a few times, but my companion and I never truly laughed. They seem to have a loyal crowd though, who clearly appreciated their brand of dry humor.
