Catch Porter Robinson at Koolhaus February 8

I have a soft spot for electronic dance music and the resurgence of DJ tours that powered across Europe in the mid-90s. Perhaps one of the youngest acclaimed DJs in this field is Porter Robinson, who started producing his own tracks at the age of 13. Now barely legal enough to drink, he’s added Toronto’s Koolhaus on February 8 as part of his Circle Assembly tour dates.
He originally released a variety of original singles on Glamara Records and Big Fish Recordings. His first single, Say My Name reached #1 on Beatport’s Electro House chart. From there his next single Spitfire also reached #1 on the iTunes dance charts and in 2012 his single Language went everywhere.

Touring internationally with Deadmau5, Tiesto and Skrillex, he’s performed at all the major music festivals South by Southwest so it’s great to catch him at a smaller venue like the Koolhaus.

On the other music spectrum, hip hop producer Just Blaze (producer for Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Kendrick, etc) and new comer Baauer are coming for the “Big League” tour. Appearing at the Hoxton on February 1, this promises to be a great experience for any house music fans that like a stronger beat or hip hop fans who like to get down.

Just Blaze is best known for producing Jay-Z songs on the albums The Blueprint, The Blueprint 2, and The Black Album, while Brooklyn-based Baauer is a 22-year-old DJ/producer who makes house music that sounds like hip-hop. Together, they’ve created a unique sound that combines both genres.
