Four different Toronto water taxi companies have banded together to create a fun, hour-long adventure called Spooky Lagoon: Toronto Island Stories. On the way to Toronto Islands, you will hear historical stories, pre-recorded by a long-time resident of the island. It’s a nice mix of history with just enough of a creep factor to get your spine tingling. Once you arrive at Gibraltar Lighthouse, you are greeted by a costumed actor who takes you on a brief tour of the area.

On the way back from our tour, we were fortunate to be with a driver who had lived on the island for most of his life so he was able to give us even more great stories about island life. We stopped for a few minutes to get pictures of the breath-taking skyline before we headed back into the city.

It’s a fun event, however, if they continue next year, I hope they expand on the idea a bit more.  The audio was sometimes hard to hear over the boat engine and the water lapping against the boat. It would definitely be difficult for someone who has difficulty hearing. The actor who gave us the tour was fantastic but the stop on the island was much too short. It would be great to have a few more ghost stories and make the tour a little longer.

Tickets are $25 and the tours go until October 31st.  Check out their website for more information.  spookylagoon.com
