For one night only, join dance and reality TV stars as they ignite the dance floor on their only Canadian stop for the Shaping Sound live tour.

Emmy- nominated choreographers and So You Think You Can Dance superstars Travis Wall, Nick Lazzarini, Teddy Forance, and Kyle Robinson lead a dynamic company of recognizable and highly talented contemporary dancers. Joey Arrigo, star of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, will also be touring with the Shaping Sound Dance Company.

Wall, Lazzarini, Forance and Robinson, the core dancers, decided to form the company in 2011. They put together a dynamic group of some of the best dancers they knew and so became Shaping Sound.

theSceneinTO got a chance to chat with Kyle Robinson while he took a break from rehearsals. No stranger to Toronto, he mentioned how eager he was to come back. “I actually have a 10-speed bike that I purchased from the Salvation Army on my last trip out, waiting for me to ride again.” His previous visit was to do some dance work with Toronto company Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie.

“We’re out here trying to push boundaries while we find our creative process.” Noting that he had been friends with Nick and Teddy for some time, Robinson explained how he has come to have a great admiration for Wall. “Travis is the star and director, but it’s not just because of SYTYCD—he’s just unbelievably talented and he is really good at explaining his direction and telling us what he wants.”

So what is it like, working with such mega talents? According to Robinson, each of the principal dancers brings something unique to the table, “I’m the most calm and tranquil within the process, so I strive to bring some perspective when emotions run high.”
