Canadian National Exhibition Prince’s Gates

The CNE once again returns to Exhibition Place to carry us through the rest of August and into the start of the new school year.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the CNE, it is one of North America’s largest fairs and — is in town now through to September 2nd.

There is a little something for everyone as the EX features exhibitions, shows, rides, shopping, food, musical performances and even a casino. Among the new attractions at the CNE this year are the CNE zipline – a thrilling, 1100 foot ride through the Exhibition grounds; the Mach 3 ride- a 37 metre arm that whirls riders 360 degrees upside down and inside out; acts by the Flying Wallendas and Tic Toc- displays that are sure to amaze and astound, as well as musical performances by the Pornographers, Danny Fernandes, Massari among others.

Leave your inhibitions behind, let loose and have fun at the Ex. Now through September 2nd.

Food has always been a big part of the CNE’s allure and this year is no different. Once again the Toronto Food Building is host to a large number of restaurants that will cater to anyone’s craving. Those with a big appetite will want to try the Notorious P.I.G. combo from Baconation. This “healthy” meal comes in at a staggering 7500 calories. The Food Network will also have their own stage, which will feature appearances by Celebrity chefs Bob Blumer, Marc McEwan and Susur Lee, to name a few.

Part of the allure of The Ex is its crazy food options. One option from the recent past was deep fried butter.

If you happen to go on a rainy day, don’t fret; there are many indoor activities and shows to be enjoyed. The CNE features a pretty extensive array of shopping options including a shopper’s market, warehouse outlets and an international pavilion. The International stage in the Direct Energy Centre will be host to many music and dance performances which will feature a diverse list of performers as well. Be sure to stop by and get your daily dose of culture with acts like the Creole Choir from Cuba, Recycled Orchestra from Paraguay and many more.

Need more fun? The CNE features these things as well:

  • a wide variety of animals to pet and enjoy including: Horse Stables, barnyards and birds of prey
