Bruce Hunter and Erica Wood star in Dine Her, playing at George Street Diner

Bruce Hunter, in collaboration with neighbourhood gem George Street Diner, presents Dine Her– a real space environment production.

The premise for Dine Her was essentially dreamed up in an afternoon while Mr. Hunter sat at the counter of George Street Diner and took in the simple beauty of the space—one of the few remaining authentic diners in the city. You can expect that the story is partly based on the immediate environment around the space.

“I’m metaphorically thumbing my nose at urban developers who are eating up Toronto’s beloved family-owned shops and restaurants, and transforming them into lifeless ‘zombie-condos’ made of glass and metal,” says Hunter, the transitional zombie in Dine Her.

After the play was officially written, Hunter took to the community to see who else wanted to be involved with the production. So, for those of you who are familiar with the neighbourhood, you’ll recognize some of the locals making appearances in the play.

Expect Dine Her to be similar to an intimate dinner theatre; it takes place in a diner after all. For less than $40 you get the show and you can choose one of four dinner options.

Hunter promises that the play will be fast and furiously paced with a major surprise at the end.

As for that zombie who walks into the diner, you’d better hope he’s already had his supper.

Presented by Realspace Theatre in a real-space environment and co-starring Erica Wood, Dine Her runs for eight shows only at The George Street Diner (129 George Street), Monday September 16th to the 23rd.

Tickets are $39.95 for dinner (chicken, beef or vegetarian choices available) and show (7:00 p.m.). Online tickets or cash sales in-person (talk to Ash) at The George Street Diner (between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.) Further info: 647-898-DINE (3463); zombiedineher@gmail.com.
