Get ready, Toronto! The 45th annual Toronto International Storytelling Festival, Many Voices Tell A Story, is just around the corner, and it’s bringing a world of tales to our city from June 9-17, 2024. This year’s festival promises an extraordinary blend of live performances, events, and online offerings that will captivate audiences across Toronto, Mississauga, and Oshawa.
Many Voices Tell A Story isn’t just an event; it’s a celebration of the diverse narratives that shape our shared human experience. With the support of partners like The City of Toronto, The Toronto Public Library, The Friends of Regent Park, and many more, the festival showcases a rich tapestry of stories from phenomenal international and local performers.
This year’s highlights are not to be missed. Headlining performances from UK-based storytellers Jan Blake and TuuP are sure to enchant. Don’t miss “The Power of Story,” a talk by award-winning storyteller Itah Sadu, or the Emerging Tellers and Open Mic event with Festival Elder Celia Lottridge. Queers in Your Ears, Toronto’s only LGBTQS2+ storytelling collective, will also be sharing their unique voices, and the annual Family Day event promises a day full of stories for all ages. Indigenous Advocate Carmel Whittle will bring powerful performances, and after the festival, join “In Conversation with Jan Blake” for an insightful gathering.
Whether you’re a seasoned listener or new to the art of storytelling, this festival offers something for everyone. It’s more than just a series of events; it’s an opportunity to connect, learn, and be inspired by the many voices that make up our community.
