Spring has sprung!
Well not officially, judging by the subzero temperatures, flurries, snow covered-ground and mini storms we have encountered lately. But not to worry, spring is here in another really big way, at least when it comes to fashion. This was the case at the splendid Spring Starts Here fashion extravaganza presented by Hudson’s Bay.
That’s right, The Bay on Queen Street hosted a show that featured not only feather-weight models expertly floating on 6 inch stilettos, but champagne glasses and tiny morsels of scrumptious canapés all for the price of 60 minutes of your devoted attention.
Elle Magazine’s editor-in-chief Noreen Flanagan and twins Cailliane and Samantha Beckerman were on hand along with Suzanne Timmins, Senior Vice President and Fashion Director for The Bay, to dish out the latest on fashion’s must –have items. Timmins played hostess with the mostess offering tips on how to look your best, and coordinate contrasting pieces with the latest and hottest trends in fashion this spring. The beauty of the whole experience was the one-stop shopping experience and one ridiculously affordable dress which was the only one available in the store which brought cries of outrage from an otherwise adoring crowd.
So what is hot for this season? Bright lip color paired with flirty shoes; Florabunda where
everything is floral from handbags to shoes; Gypset where gypsy meets jetsetter’ and graphic black and white ensembles in unthinkable patterns are the ‘in’ items. Bold is also the new black, so to speak, with loud patterns that adorned almost everything from pants to skirts to blazers.
The event strategically coincides with Toronto’s Fashion Week and event which showcases the likes of successful fashion lines like Joe Fresh, David Dixon and Greta Constantine to name a few. The Bay used this fashion event to highlight their ambitious line of women’s clothing from Topshop, Pink Tartan, Christopher Kane, Material Girl, Z Spoke by Zac Posen, Elizabeth & James, Max Mara Weekend and more.
It’s lots of color, lots of fun, lots of splash, lots to choose from and lots to go wild with this season folks. Gone are the days of matchy-matchy safe pieces, instead it is a ‘go with the flow’ approach to dressing that encourages taking risks and making statements. So whether you’re ready or not, The Bay has announced that spring fashion has started and it all started here.
