July is heating up and we can’t get enough of the Toronto music scene. Check out these two upcoming concerts:
The Full Flex Express featuring Skrillex, Diplo, Pretty Lights, Grimes, Koan Sound and Tokimonsta will be making its stop at Fort York on July 13 as the first of 6 venues on this Great White North Electronica tour. The tour is inspired by the Festival Express tour that featured the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and The Band, and will be traveling to each city via train. It’s a tour that’s less about practicality and more about enjoying the ride. Fort York is an amazing venue for these types of concerts as there will be 3 major stages plenty of dance space and enough room to chill out.
Later in the month we switch gears to soulful rap as Aesop Rock comes to the Mod Club on July 30. He’s touring in support of his newest album Skelethon (released July 10 via Rhymesayers) his first self-produced. Aesop’s live shows are known for his raw energy and the way he delivers his deep and cerebral rhymes. The New York-bred, SF based rapper will be bringing pals Rob Sonic and DJ Big Wiz along for the ride as well.
